As you may have heard, Canada scored a pretty big soccer victory on Friday night. Here's a look at that and some other important results from the weekend in international sports:
Uruguay beat Brazil on penalties (4-2) to reach the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America after their game ended goalless on Saturday. Uruguay, who finished the game with ten men after Nahitan Nandez was sent off in the 74th minute, will face Colombia in Charlotte, North Carolina, in their semi-final on Wednesday. Colombia beat Panama 5-0 in Saturday's other quarter-final earlier in Arizona. The other semi-final, in New Jersey on Tuesday, will see world champions Argentina face surprise package Canada.
Carli Lloyd and Alexi Lalas broke down Argentina and Lionel Messi's chances in the Copa América. They also discussed if Messi is still the best player in the world.
ARLINGTON, Texas : Canada claimed a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Venezuela on Friday to reach the Copa America semi-finals for the first time after an absorbing contest finished 1-1 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Indian cricket team finally managed to leave Barbados in a special flight arranged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma's men were to leave from the island nation on Sunday after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 but a hurricane threat forced them to remain placed in their hotel for the next three days. The special charted flight arranged by BCCI secretary Jay Shah will also be carrying members of Indian media who went to cover the tournament but got stranded due to the hurricane Beryl.

India's wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson shared a first glimpse of a special jersey designed to commemorate Team India's Men's T20 World Cup glory. The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, returned home to a hero's welcome on Thursday aboard a specially-arranged charter flight. Thousands of jubilant fans gathered at the New Delhi airport, undeterred by the weather and security measures, to greet their champions. The celebratory mood was palpable as the team flaunted the T20 World Cup trophy to the cheering crowd before heading to the ITC Maurya hotel.
