Ricky Ponting Says Talks On In ICC To Address Pay Disparity For Growth Of Test Cricket
Australian legend Ricky Ponting feels the International Cricket Council has a role to play in ensuring that players from smaller Test playing nations are paid well for their services in the five-day format. Ponting gave the example of West Indies cricketers who tend to choose franchise cricket over international duty for financial reasons. In an event organised by the ICC ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia at the Oval from June 7, Ponting was asked about youngsters wanting to play the five-day game in an era of T20 leagues.
Three Out Of Four Sexual Assault Charges Against Sri Lanka Cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka Dropped
Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka, who was accused of rape by a woman last year, had three out of his four sexual assault charges dropped in Sydney on Thursday. Gunathilaka was charged with four counts of sexual intercourse without consent for which the 32-year-old had been arrested by the Sydney police from the team hotel last November during the T20 World Cup. However, the public prosecutor withdrew three of the charges in a Sydney court. According to the police, the Sri Lankan batter and the 29-year-old woman met via a dating app. After their date, the two returned to the woman's home at Sydney's Rose Bay where Gunathilaka allegedly choked her and raped her.

Pakistan To Participate In SAFF Football Tournament In Bengaluru
Pakistan has confirmed its participation in the South Asian Football Federation Championships in Bengaluru in June-July and the AIFF does not see any problem with the players of the neighbouring country travelling to India. The international tournament will also see participation of Lebanon and Kuwait as the SAFF executive committee in March decided to feature teams from outside the south Asian region with a view to make the championship more competitive. "We don't see any problem in the coming of players from Pakistan to India to participate in the SAFF Championships," All Indian Football Federation secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran told PTI.
