Virat Kohli. Cheteshwar Pujara. Rohit Sharma. The 'holy trinity' has given Indian fans joyous moments over the years but how future ready is India's Test batting as the trio is ready for their last dance. The seismic defeat during the WTC final at the Oval made it mandatory for the bigwigs to search for a solution to that question. Now! The failure of Pujara to kick on against Australia is severely hurting as he was perceived to be in fine fettle after his exploits with Sussex in the County Cricket. Pujara's last memorable innings remains that 77 against Australia in Sydney in 2021, and if we take out a 90 and 102 against Bangladesh at Chattogram in 2022, the cupboard has a bare look.
The Asian Cricket Council, headed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, is expected to approve PCB's proposed 'hybrid model' for conducting four non-India Asia Cup games in Pakistan while the rest of the matches will be played in Sri Lanka's Galle and Pallekele. The ACC is likely to make a formal announcement on Tuesday and once the hybrid model is officially accepted, decks will be cleared for Pakistan team's travel to India for the ODI World Cup scheduled in October-November. Now, Pakistan will have no problems playing in Ahmedabad.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Friday created history, as he surpassed compatriot Bishan Singh Bedi to become the country's most successful left-arm spinner in the history of Test cricket. Jadeja accomplished this during India's ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval. In Australia's second innings, Jadeja put to an end innings of two centurions from the first innings, Steve Smith (34) and Travis Head (18). Jadeja ended the day with figures of 2/25 in nine overs.
The Indian government has cleared the Pakistan football team's participation in the SAFF Cup in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Thursday. AIFF secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran said India has "done its part" by clearing Pakistan's participation in the eight-nation regional tournament and it's now up to the neighbouring country to complete the formalities.
Seamer Trent Boult could return for New Zealand at the ODI World Cup later this year despite not having a national contract, Black Caps coach Gary Stead said Thursday. Boult opted out of a New Zealand Cricket contract last year, which enabled him to play in the lucrative Big Bash League in Australia. He was not included in the list of players offered a central deal on Thursday, instead signing a "casual playing agreement", New Zealand Cricket said. Stead hopes Boult can resume his strike partnership alongside New Zealand Test captain Tim Southee at the 50-overs World Cup in India, which starts in October.
The South Africa A cricket side beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in the third unofficial ODI in Pallekele on Thursday to seal a 2-1 series triumph.
