Asia Cup 2023: Complete List Of Fixtures, Dates And Venues
The President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah, on Wednesday announced the schedule of the Asia Cup 2023. Six teams have been divided into two groups of three each, with the event to be held across four venues in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While co-hosts Pakistan, India and Nepal have been placed in Group A, Group B is occupied by Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. In the opening match of the tournament, Pakistan will take on Nepal on August 30 in Multan., Pakistan. However, the biggest highlight of the tournament will come when India square off against Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy. The final will be played on September 17 in Colombo.
Pakistan Lose Three Wickets In 131-Run Chase Against Sri Lanka
Pakistan lost three wickets in a tricky 131-run chase on day four of the rain-hit opening Test on Wednesday, after spinners Noman Ali and Abrar Ahmed helped bowl Sri Lanka out for 279. The tourists reached 48-3 at stumps in Galle, needing another 83 to take the lead in the two-match series. Imam-ul-Haq, on 25, and skipper Babar Azam, on six, were at the crease. Left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya struck twice with the wickets of Abdullah Shafique, caught behind for eight, and Shan Masood for seven.
Asia Cup 2023 Schedule Announced, India To Face Pakistan On This Date
The Asia Cup 2023 schedule was finally announced on Wednesday, by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head. This time the tournament is being played in a hybrid model, after Shah declared last year that India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the event. The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan, on August 30. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2. India will face Nepal in the other group stage match on September 4 at the same venue.
