"It's Not Ideal...": India vs Pakistan Reserve Day At Asia Cup 2023 Has Bangladesh Coach Disappointed

Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood and his Bangladesh counterpart Chandika Hathurasingha on Friday expressed displeasure over the unilateral decision to provide a reserve day for the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan. Earlier in the day, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that the Indo-Pak match could resume on September 11 if the rain plays spoilsport on September 10. However, the other matches will not have a reserve day though rain is predicted in the Sri Lankan capital through the Super 4s. Hathurasingha said he was not aware of the reason behind the sudden change in Asia Cup playing conditions.

Indian cricket team legend Sunil Gavaskar wants someone to find the real story behind the decision to not shift the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 matches from Colombo to Hambantota. India vs Pakistan Super 4 Clash In Asia Cup To Have Reserve Day. The Format Is...

Giving a big sigh of relief to cricket fans, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced a reserve day for the Super Four stage match between India and Pakistan which is scheduled to take place on September 10 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As per ACC, if adverse weather suspends play during the India and Pakistan game, the match will continue on September 11 from the point it was suspended. In such an eventuality, ticket-holders are advised to hold on to their match tickets which will remain valid and will be utilised for the reserve day. It also has to be noted that the India vs Pakistan contest is the only fixture to have a Reserve Day in the Super 4 stage. None of the other matches will have this option available for teams.

Asia Cup: Bangladesh Search For Win vs Sri Lanka To Stay Alive In Super 4

Survival will be foremost in Bangladesh's mind whereas Sri Lanka will aim for a winning start when they cross swords in the second Super 4 match of the Asia Cup on Saturday. A seven-wicket towelling at the hands of Pakistan in the Super 4 opener in Lahore has made a victory mandatory for Bangladesh against the Lankans, assuming that the weather remains dry enough for the match to take place. A defeat will almost certainly put an end to their Asia Cup campaign. Batting is their main concern, and they will have to address it immediately.

"Pakistan Is Ready To...": Shahid Afridi On Jay Shah's 'Security Concern' Comment

While replying to the concern of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah regarding the issue of "security" in Pakistan, former captain Shahid Afridi has sent out a reminder. It is worth noting that Asia Cup 2023 which was earlier slated to take place entirely in Pakistan is now being co-hosted by the country after nine matches of the tournament were moved out to Sri Lanka. "All the full members, media rights holders, and in-stadia rights holders were initially hesitant to commit to hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan. This reluctance stemmed from concerns related to the security and economic situation prevailing in the country," said Shah.

"Don't Know What Najam Sethi Is Smoking...": Harbhajan Singh Blasts Ex-PCB Chief For 'India Afraid' Comment

The Asia Cup 2023 venue continues to be part of a hot debate. Initially the continental event was supposed to be held fully in Pakistan but then the Asian Cricket Council, led by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, decided on a hybrid model. Barring four matches, all the other games are being played in Sri Lanka. However, rain has played spoilsport in the matches. In the first India vs Pakistan game at Pallekele, not a single ball could be bowled in the second innings, after Pakistan dismissed India for 266.
