Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya on Thursday posted a video of himself bowling with the red-ball during a training session in England, triggering speculation over his return to Test cricket. Pandya bowling with the red cherry evoked a lot of interest on social media after the 30-year-old posted a series of stories on Instagram. The injury-prone all-rounder hasn't played Test cricket since September 2018 and underwent a lower back surgery in 2019.

Afghanistan's ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan is set to return to the ODI format for the first time since the conclusion of last year's ODI World Cup in India. Rashid has been named in Afghanistan's 17-member squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, beginning on September 18 in the UAE. Rashid was a notable absentee in Afghanistan's squad for the one-off Test against New Zealand in Greater Noida. After last year's World Cup, Rashid had undergone back surgery. He was out of action and missed Afghanistan's series against UAE, India and Sri Lanka, and ODIs against Ireland.

The toss was scheduled to take place at 9am but persistent rain continued to play spoilsport as the match officials called off the day's play for the fourth day in succession. “The fourth day of the only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand teams is also not going to be played due to continued rainfall,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said in a statement.
