Here's the latest from the day's sporting action...
Australian opener Travis Head has returned to batting for the first time since he fractured his left hand and could join the World Cup squad on Friday, Cricket Australia said on Sunday.
For the winners, a place in the semi-finals and an enticing tie against either a misfiring England or a Fiji side that would be stepping into unknown territory.
Aussie batsman Travis Head made his return to the nets for the first time after he suffered a fractured hand in South Africa and is expected to be able to fly out to join the World Cup squad in India on Thursday. The 29-year-old had the cast removed late last week and is now facing throwdowns. Scans have shown the fracture, inflicted by fast bowler Gerald Coetzee at Centurion, is healing well although he still needs a final sign-off before joining the Aussie squad.
LUCKNOW : Australia are struggling to read the wickets at the World Cup in India and are adapting to the conditions "on the fly", skipper Pat Cummins said on Sunday as the five-times champions look for their first win of the tournament.
Forced to treat every game as a final due to their awful start, skipper Pat Cummins on Sunday said Australia are fired up to perform against teams that they have done well against in the recent past. Australia were crushed by hosts India in their opener before stumbling to a 134-run defeat to South Africa on Thursday. The Men from Down Under find themselves in a precarious position to win at least six of their remaining seven games to make the semifinals. However, Cummins is not pressing the panic button just yet.
