India pacer Deepak Chahar missed the 5th and final T20I against Australia despite only returning to action in the 4th T20I of the same series. India's interim skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed a 'medical emergency' to be the reason behind Chahar's 11th-hour pull out from the series. Though Chahar has been named for India's T20I assignment against South Africa, it isn't yet known whether he will be able to join his teammates in the Rainbow Nation. Opening up on the situation, Chahar revealed that his father has been admitted to the hospital but he isn't in a position to leave him and fly to South Africa yet.
The Indian cricket team departed from Bengaluru on Tuesday night for their tour to South Africa. The Men in Blue, including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, head coach Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Siraj among others departed from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru for the tour. The all-format tour of South Africa will kickstart from December 10 with a three-match T20I series which will go on till December 14. From December 17, the ODI leg of the white-ball series will start which will conclude on September 21.

However, former India opener Aakash Chopra feels Gaikwad will face stiff competition from Shubman Gill for a place in the Indian team at the T20 World Cup next year.
Former Indian cricket team fast bowler S Sreesanth namedropped MS Dhoni in a massive praise for current skipper Rohit Sharma. In a recent interaction, Sreesanth called Rohit a 'street-smart cricketer' and pointed out that much like Dhoni, he makes sure to back his bowlers and fielders even when the going gets tough on the field.
