Indian Cricket At Crossroads: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Or Emerging Talent In T20Is?

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have made invaluable contributions to Indian cricket for over a decade. However, performances by youngsters in the T20 Internationals (T20Is) this year have sparked a contentious debate — should India prefer young blood over experience in the shortest format of the game? Since India's defeat in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final against England, the 35-year-old Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, 36, have not played T20Is. Their absence, rather than causing a void, has been filled by a crop of young talent which coincided with a series of victories for the Men in Blue.

Internet Trolls Mushfiqur Rahim After 'Handling The Ball'. England Legend Joins In

Mushfiqur Rahim achieved a dubious feat as the veteran Bangladesh cricketer became the second batter ever in Tests to be dismissed for obstructing the field. The incident happened during Day 1 of the second Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh in Dhaka after Mushfiqur swatted the ball away from his stumps after defending a delivery from Kyle Jamieson. Social media were filled with funny comments regarding the rare and bizarre dismissal with former England skipper Michael Vaughan coming up with a special message. "Welcome to the very exclusive Handled ball club @mushfiqur15 .. only proper players are members .." he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"This Is A Good Indian Team But...": Jacques Kallis' Huge Warning Ahead Of South Africa Tour

Jacques Kallis, one of the last multi-skilled legends, says quality all-rounders have become a scarcity in modern-day cricket, especially in Test cricket, because of "too much cricket across formats". While Sir Garfield Sobers (8032 runs and 235 wickets) is considered 'greatest of 'em all' across generations, Kallis (25,000-plus runs and nearly 600 wickets in three formats) is inarguably one of the legendary all-rounders the modern era has seen. In the 1980s, there were four great all-rounders in Imran Khan, Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham and Kapil Dev while the new millennium saw emergence of Kallis and Andrew Flintoff. But with advent of T20 cricket and mushrooming leagues across the globe with new rules have actually discouraged development of multi-skilled cricketers.

"Arshdeep Singh Not Doing That Well": Ex India Star Raises Death Bowling Concern

India emerged 4-1 triumphant against Australia in a 5-match T20I series despite playing a young unit under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. Though the scoreline suggests utter dominance by the Indian team, there were quite a few flaws in the team that the management would look to iron out before next year's T20 World Cup. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra raised one of the biggest concerns as he questioned the team's death bowling skills, especially in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

Mohammed Shami Among Nominees For ICC Player Of Month For November

India pacer Mohammed Shami, who ended the recently concluded ICC World Cup as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, has been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for November 2023 along with Australia's batting sensation Travis Head and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. "Two ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 champions and an Indian fast-bowling veteran have made the shortlist for the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for November 2023," the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement. Shami continued his golden run in the World Cup into November. He bagged 15 wickets at an average of 12.06 with an economy rate of 5.68. Overall, he finished as the leading wicket-taker of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, with 24 wickets to his name from merely seven innings. Among his highlight efforts this month was a stunning 5/18 against Sri Lanka at Wankhede. Already under pressure in a 358-run chase, Shami's arrival at the end of the first Powerplay spelt the end for Sri Lanka. In his five overs, he batted through their middle and lower order.
