South Africa advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 with Tunisia crashing out as the sides played out a 0-0 draw in their final Group E match in Korhogo.
New Zealand's young batter Rachin Ravindra was on Wednesday crowned ICC Men's Emerging Cricketer of the Year for 2023. Rachin announced himself to the world as he reigned supreme during last year's ODI World Cup amassing 578 runs and has been recognized for his on-field prowess. The 24-year-old faced fierce competition for the coveted accolade but managed to beat the likes of South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee, Sri Lanka speedster Dilshan Madushanka and India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. "It's obviously a very special feeling. Whenever you get recognised by the ICC for something it is always special. Reflecting back, it has been a pretty whirlwind last year and having the opportunity to play so much cricket in so many different environments has been very special," Rachin said, according to ICC.
KORHOGO, Ivory Coast : Tunisia limped out of the Africa Cup of Nations finals with a whimper after they were held to a 0-0 draw by South Africa in the sweltering heat of Korhogo on Wednesday, a result that sends their opponents into the last-16.
Ahead of the first Test match between India and England at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, skipper Rohit Sharma on Wednesday said that they are not interested in how their opposition is going to play. While speaking at the pre-match press conference, Rohit was asked about England's 'Bazball' to which the 36-year-old said that they are more focused on what they can do as a team. "We will look to play our cricket. I am not interested in how the opposition is going to play. I am focused on what we want to do as a team," Rohit said.
It was the World Cup final that never happened but France and Ireland will get a chance to duel it out on Friday week in Marseille.
India might be an indomitable force at home, but captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday said he wouldn't want to label themselves as "unbeatable" and they need to play consistent cricket to trump England in the five-match series.
