Australian spinner Nathan Lyon described unbeaten New Zealand batsman Rachin Ravindra as a budding "superstar" on Saturday but says the tourists are still well placed to win the first Test in Wellington. Ravindra struck an eye-catching 56 not out as the home side reached 111-3 at stumps on day three, having stumbled early in their pursuit of a lofty 369 to win the opening match of the two-Test series.
Since the last one week, the one news which has made a lot of noise is the exclusion of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the BCCI's latest annual contract list. The two stars have been strongly in BCCI scheme of things in the past one year. They were part of important events and till very recently played in the Indian cricket team. Ishan Kishan was last part of the squad that toured South Africa before he went on a break while Iyer was part of the first two Tests against England, before he was dropped.

Star players Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were on Wednesday excluded from the annual player retainership list for the 2023-24 season, with the BCCI saying in a statement that the two were not considered for the annual contracts. The ouster came as a massive jolt to the two players who were under the scanner of the BCCI of late. Not being in the central contracts list simply means that the two players would not be getting the annual fee from BCCI, however, this is not the only loss they will have to go through.
Bud Cauley, back on the PGA Tour after a three year injury absence, produced two late birdies to grab the outright second-round lead at the Cognizant Classic at PGA National Resort on Friday.
Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are both well placed at the midway point in the Cognizant Classic in Florida, with American Bud Cauley leading the field.
