Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has said veteran duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are "irreplaceable" in the Indian team across formats and called them "as same as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni". Kohli announced retirement from T20Is after delivering a match-winning knock of 76 in India's thirlling win in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa. Later, in the press conference, Rohit too called quits to his T20I career. "No one can take Virat and Rohit's place in the Indian team in any format. They have been a huge servant of Indian cricket and it was a happy farewell for them. The stature that Virat has made of himself in all formats, he will surely be missed in T20Is. Both are as same as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. They are irreplaceable," said Kapil Dev, who is also a president of the PGTI, to IANS on the sidelines of Trinity Golf Championship League second edition curtain raiser event.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are all set to appoint Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate as assistant coaches of the Indian cricket team, according to a report by Cricbuzz. While no official statement has been issued by the team management, the report claims that both Nayar and Ten Doeschate will join new head coach Gautam Gambhir for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Nayar was the assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders while the former Dutch international also served as KKR's fielding coach when Gambhir served as mentor. T Dilip, who served as fielding coach under Rahul Dravid, is reportedly going to be retained in the new support staff as well.
