Lucknow Super Giants kick off their maiden IPL campaign on Monday against fellow newcomers Gujarat Titans and all eyes will be on captain KL Rahul as well as his buddy and counterpart Hardik Pandya. Rahul has been the most prolific run-getter in IPL over the past three seasons but all the campaigns had ended in heartbreak as his performance was not enough to power his former franchise Punjab Kings to the play-offs. It's a fresh start for Rahul and he would like to repay the faith shown in him by the LSG management by getting the team off to a good start.
KL Rahul is all geared up to lead the Lucknow Super Giants for the very first time as the side squares off against the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Ahead of this game, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar assessed Rahul's captaincy stint with the Punjab Kings. Gavaskar spoke about how Rahul "seemed preoccupied" while leading the Punjab-based franchise in the cash-rich league.
Heather Knight is hoping to avoid another nail-biting finish when England take on South Africa in the semi-finals of the Women's Cricket World Cup on Thursday.
India suffered heartbreak at the hands of South Africa, losing their final league match by the narrowest of margins, which in turn saw them crashing out of the ICC Women's World Cup. Needing a win to make it to the semi-finals, India lost by six wickets in a last-ball thriller at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday. The loss meant that India failed to make it into the top four, with Australia, South Africa, England and the West Indies making it to the semis. The match had its ebbs and flows with both teams managing to somehow wrestle control from each other but the turning point came in the final over, when Deepti Sharma overstepped on the penultimate ball.
Out-of-favour from the national team, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will look to prove his doubters wrong as he captains new franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. GT will take on KL Rahul-led new team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their opening match of the season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik will have a bunch of players to choose his final XI, consisting of the likes of Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan and others.
Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken on his future and the transfer rumours linking him with Paris Saint-Germain, while also expressing his delight over playing alongside N'Golo Kante.
