CAPE TOWN : Makeshift opener Ryan Rickelton achieved his highest first class score with an unbeaten 213 to lead a rampant South Africa to 429 for five at lunch on the second day of the second and final test against Pakistan at a baking hot Newlands on Saturday.
Pakistan's young all-format opener, Saim Ayub could miss next month's ICC Champions Trophy after being ruled out of competitive cricket for six weeks because of an ankle injury that he sustained during the ongoing second Test against South Africa. He will take no further part in the Test against the Proteas at Cape Town. Sourav Ganguly's daughter Sana's car met was hit by a bus on Friday night, according to a report in Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika. The incident happened at the Behala Chowrasta area. The driver of the bus has been detained, according to the report. Ganguly's daughter is safe, however, her car suffered damage and the looking glass got broken. Sana was sitting on the front seat when the accident happened. The report further said the bus was being driven recklessly. Sana's car could have overturned but her driver was alert enough to avert a major accident.

Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma hit centuries and batted South Africa into a strong position on the first day of the second Test against Pakistan at Newlands on Friday. South Africa were 316 for four at the close of play. Rickelton (176 not out) and South African captain Bavuma (106) put on 235 for the fourth wicket after the pair came together with the total on 72 for three. At that stage South Africa were in danger of wasting the advantage of winning the toss on a good batting pitch. But Rickelton and Bavuma were seldom troubled as they posted a fifty partnership off 66 balls and scored consistently at better than four runs an over throughout their stand.
