Jumbo-Visma Sport Director Frans Maassen has explained that Primoz Roglic abandoning the Tour de France was because he was «suffering a lot». Roglic took the decision to pull out of the race ahead of Stage 15 «to allow my injuries to heal» following a crash on Stage 5. Ad/> Speaking ahead of the Stage, Maassen described the difficulties Roglic was having and intimated that the decision came from above rather than from the rider himself.
Primoz Roglic’s decision to abandon this year’s Tour de France has led to raised eyebrows, not least from Eurosport’s Breakaway team. The Jumbo-Visma rider took the decision to pull out of the race ahead of Stage 15 ‘to allow my injuries to heal’ following a crash on Stage 5. Jumbo-Visma's Vingegaard assumed the race lead from Pogacar after a brilliant, coordinated assault on the Slovenian on Stage 11 in the high Alpine mountains. But Pogacar wants his revenge, and has attacked constantly since that day in a bid to rescue the yellow jersey, even trying a dig 185km out from the finish on Saturday's run up to Mende.
