Marco Odermatt stretched his lead at the top of the giant slalom World Cup standings with a fifth season victory. In the penultimate weekend of the season in Slovenia, Odermatt finished in a time of 2:16.65 to pip Alexis Pinturault of France and Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen to top spot.

Odermatt was the class of the field in the first run but looked tired in the second leg and just did enough to beat Alexis Pinturault by 0.23 seconds to win his fifth giant slalom of the season. Ad Only Aleksander Aamodt Kilde could mathematically beat Odermatt to the overall Crystal Globe, but he’s not racing in Slovenia this weekend, so the Swiss skier is guaranteed to wrap up the title after Sunday’s giant slalom.
