Indian weightlifter Purnima Pandey finished a disappointing sixth in the women's 87kg event at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. Pandey managed just two lifts, which is the bare minimum required to register a total, for an aggregate of 228kg (103kg 125kg) at the NEC. In her last two clean and jerk attempts of 133kg, the barbell slipped out of her hands before she could complete 'clean'.

England's Emily Campbell turned in a stunning performance to take gold in the +87kg weighlifting event at the Commonwealth Games. The 28-year-old from Nottingham broke records in both the snatch and the clean and jerk lifts to finish with an overall Games-record total of 286kg. CWG 2022: Weightlifter Vikas Thakur strikes silver in men's 96kg
Commonwealth Games medal to his kitty, winning a silver in the men's 96kg on Tuesday. The seasoned Thakur lifted a total of 346kg (155kg+191kg) to finish second and claim his third CWG medal across three editions. It was Thakur's second silver, having finished second in the 2014 Glasgow edition as well. In Gold Coast, he returned with a bronze. Samoa's Don Opeloge 381kg (171kg+210kg) bettered his 2018 silver by clinching gold with a record breaking performance.
