European champions Italy have been knocked out of qualifying for this year's World Cup.
Sweden are through to a World Cup qualifying play-off final against Poland next week after an extra-time strike by Robin Quaison gave them a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in Solna on Thursday.
Robin Quaison's extra-time goal was enough to down the Czech Republic and send Sweden through to a World Cup play-off against Poland. Before this point it was a very forgettable game with the absence of the star forwards from either side, the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to suspension and Patrik Schick due to injury.
Aleksander Trajkovski struck late as North Macedonia stunned Italy to dump the European Champions out of the World Cup. There was no way through for either side in the first half, despite Italy peppering the North Macedonia goal for large parts of the opening period.
Goals from Otavio and Diogo Jota gave Portugal a 3-1 win over Turkey on Thursday evening to book their place in next week's World Cup qualification play-off final. Otavio broke the deadlock for Portugal in the 15th minute, firing in the rebound after Bernardo Silva's effort struck the woodwork. Ad/> Diogo Jota superbly headed a second just before the interval to put the hosts firmly on the driving seat.
