2007 T20 World Cup-winning Hero Joginder Sharma, Now DSP, Helps In Flood Relief Efforts In Ambala

The 2007 T20 World Cup win must be etched in memory of every Indian cricket fan. It was the start of the captain MS Dhoni's journey to greatness. India defeated Pakistan in the final to bring home the trophy. Since then, India have not been able to win the marquee event. Fast bowler Joginder Sharma bowled the final over in the title clash as India successfully defended a total of 157. A nine-down Pakistan needed 13 off the final six balls as Dhoni gave Joginder the ball. He got the wicket of Misbah ul Haq on the third legal delivery of the over as India won the final by five runs.

Pakistan To Change Asia Cup Stance? PCB Wants To Host More Games: Report

The PCB will try to get more matches of the Asia Cup to be staged in Pakistan when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board meets in Dubai on Sunday. Following the acceptance of the hybrid model by all stakeholders including the PCB and BCCI, the ACC announced last month that four matches will be held in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka with the event to held from August 31 to September 17. Hybrid model was proposed as BCCI had clearly conveyed that it won't send its team to Pakistan due to the tense relations between the two countries.

Rinku Singh's First Reaction After "Finally" Getting India Call-Up Is Fire. See Post

India batter Rinku Singh was over the moon after he received his first national call-up for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games in China. With the men's senior team set to take part in the World Cup, also later this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a second-string side to take part in the event. Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the team in the absence of senior players, who will be busy preparing for the upcoming ODI World Cup on home soil.

"Unfair To Deprive People...": Former Pakistan Captain Questions PCB Over World Cup Stance

Former Pakistan cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq has advocated for his country's team be allowed to compete in the ODI World Cup in India and added that not sending the side for the mega-event would be "depriving people" of the opportunity to see the arch-rivals clash on the biggest stage. "When there can be contacts between the two countries in other sports, why not in cricket. Why link cricket with political relations? It is unfair to deprive people of a chance to see their teams play against each other," said Misbah, the 49-year-old former Pakistan captain and coach at a function here on Friday.

Bangladesh asks Afghanistan to bat first in T20 series-opener

SYLHET, Bangladesh: Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and asked Afghanistan to bat first in the two-match Twenty20 series-opener on Friday. Despite previous worries over rain, the match started on schedule. Bangladesh beat T20 world champion England 3-0 and Ireland 2-1 in this format but comes into the game after losing 2-1 in a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Bangladesh avoided being swept by winning the final ODI in Chattogram. The hosts made two changes from its last T20 game against Ireland, which they lost by seven wickets, with left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and allrounder Mehidy Hasan replacing fast bowler Hasan Mahmud and legspinner Rishad Ahmed. Afghanistan is in confident mood, following its T20 series win over Pakistan and its first ODI series win against Bangladesh. The visitors brought back Hazratullah Zazai from its previous T20 game against Pakistan, replacing Sediqullah Atal.
