Pakistan are aware of India's weak areas and they have to play smart hockey against the home side, head coach Muhammad Saqlain said on Monday ahead of a potentially high-voltage clash between the arch-rivals in the Asian Champions Trophy here. India and Pakistan face each other in their last round-robin league match on Wednesday. "Harmanpreet Singh and other centre forwards are some of the best players in the world. We are aware of their weakness as well, but we have to be smart against them," Saqlain told PTI on Monday. Pakistan managed a narrow 2-1 win over China on Monday to stay in contention for a semifinal berth. Saqlain said he's confident of his side making it to the final four.

Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif asserted on Monday that the Indian team has the capability to win the World Cup at home this year and it should not be judged on the basis of two T20I losses in the West Indies. India, after winning the two-Test series and ODIs in the Caribbean, are trailing 0-2 in the five-match T20I series, leading to criticism over the side's preparations ahead of two major competitions -- the Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the ODI World Cup at home.

Inzamam-ul-Haq Appointed As Pakistan's Chief Selector Ahead Of World Cup 2023

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday re-appointed the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq as its chief selector, bringing back the former skipper for the role for a second term. Inzamam, 53, had earlier held the position of chief selector between 2016 and 2019. The 1992 World Cup winner had given his consent last week to become a paid selector. Inzamam has played 120 Tests, making 8830 runs at an average of 49.60 with 25 hundreds and 46 fifties. From 378 ODIs, Inzamam amassed 11739 runs at 39.52 with 10 centuries and 83 fifties. He had also played a lone T20I for his country. In his latest role as the chief selector, Inzamam will succeed Haroon Rasheed who stepped down last month.

The love for cricket knows no age and one of the biggest example of that is 83-year-old Scottish cricketer Alex Steele. The wicket-keeper made his debut for Scotland way back in 1967 against English county side Lancashire but his love and passion for the game has remained the same. A club cricketer for Forfarshire Cricket Club, Steele still appears for matches and recently a video of him keeping wickets has gone viral. The 83-year-old was seen on the field while carrying an oxygen cylinder on his back but that did not stop him from giving his all. He has been suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal respiratory disease, since 2020.

The two players are thousands of miles away from each other but they showed some uncanny similarity when they picked wickets during their respective matches on the same day. Both the players picked two wickets apiece and the manner in which they celebrated the wickets was identical.
