'After Asian Games, I'll See How Things Happen': PR Sreejesh On His Future

Veteran Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is taking one tournament at a time as far as his future is concerned and says he will "see how things happen" after the Asian Games in China in September-October. The 35-year-old goalkeeping legend is nearing 300 international matches after making his India debut in 2006. He is currently sharing the goalkeeping duties for India with Krishan Bahadur Pathak in the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) in Chennai. "At this age, better don't ask me about the next two years. It's all about the next one. I am at the Asian Games, and after that, I'll see how things happen. I will take it one tournament at a time," Sreejesh told PTI when asked about the possibility of him featuring in another ACT.

Watch: On Dangerous K2 Mountain Where Dad Died, Pakistan Climber Now Cleans Garbage

Gazing up from K2 Basecamp, Sajid Ali Sadpara sees Earth's second-highest mountain, his father's final resting place, and a blight of litter on the furthest reaches of the natural world. Sajid dons a down coverall stitched with Pakistan's green flag to scale the 8,611-metre (28,251-foot) spur of rock, clearing an icebound grotesquerie of spent oxygen canisters, mangled tents and snarled rope discarded over decades by climbers questing for the summit.

Asian Champions Trophy 2023: India Look To Maintain Intensity Throughout 60 Minutes In Semi-final Against Japan

Maintaining intensity throughout the 60 minutes of the game and consistency in finishing would be India's targets when the hosts take on Japan in the semifinal of the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Chennai on Friday. No doubt, India will start as favourites after their unbeaten run in the round-robin stage, winning four matches and drawing one to top the points table. However, India would be wary of Japan, the only side the hosts have not beaten. The league match between the two sides had ended in a 1-1 draw.

$1.5 Billion And Counting...: BCCI's Five-Year Surplus Can Make Any Sports Body Envious

India's cricket board earned a surplus of around $1.5 billion in the five years to 2021-22, the country's parliament heard during a rare look into the sporting body's finances. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not typically publish its finances in detail. But it is known to be one of the world's most lucrative governing bodies thanks to India's diehard love of the game and periodic bidding wars over broadcast rights.

Did India Hockey Coach Craig Fulton Take Veiled "Structured" Dig At Pakistan After 4-0 Thrashing?

A day after Pakistan hockey coach Muhammad Saqlain said that India were not playing a 'structural game' at the Asian Champions Trophy, his team were dealt a 4-0 loss by the hosts in Chennai on Wednesday. "India is not playing structural hockey, but Pakistan is. India is simply playing over fitness," Saqlain said during pre-match media conference. "Structural hockey is played by Korea and Japan. India has been playing behind the ball mostly and relying mainly on counter-attacking," he added.

Not Virat Kohli Or Rohit Sharma, Ex-Pakistan Star Praises This India Player For Making Games One-Sided

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal was left in awe of Suryakumar Yadav's brilliance after the India batter guided his side to a seven-wicket win over West Indies in the third T20I of the five-match series in Guyana on Tuesday. Suryakumar was back to his disdainful best as India stayed alive in the series against the Carribean side. West Indies skipper Rovman Powell's whirlwind 40 not out off 19 balls pushed the hosts to 159 for five after Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs. Debutant Yashavi Jaiswal (1) and Shubman Gill (6) got out cheaply in run chase before Suryakumar came up with a special 83 off 44 balls to help India gun down the target in 17.5 overs.

'If Pakistan Can Come And Play In India, Then Why Can't We?': Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh

Hockey India (HI) Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh on Wednesday suggested that if the Pakistan hockey team can come to India for the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai, then the Men in Blue should also tour their neighbouring country. If India men's hockey team failed to win a gold medal in Asian Games they will have to play in Pakistan to qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) last month confirmed that China, Pakistan and Spain will host the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers taking place from January 13 to 21 in 2024.
