Pakistan Cricketers Considering Cricket World Cup 2023 Promotions Boycott Amid Contract Row: Report
Pakistan cricket team players are considering a boycott of sponsor logos and Cricket World Cup 2023 promotional commitments due to ongoing issues with their central contracts, according to a report on Cricket Pakistan. Earlier reports suggested that captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, were offered a monthly retainership fee PKR 4.5 million each (approx. INR 13.22 lakh). Earlier, the Test cricketers received 1.1 million rupees per month (approx. INR 3.2 lakh), and white-ball players were getting 0.95 million rupees (approx. INR 2.8 lakh). However, the central contracts have not been signed yet and that can result in Pakistan cricketers taking some drastic decisions.

Xi launched the opening ceremony of the tournament, which will continue until Oct. 8, in the presence of several world and Asian leaders, in addition to the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and Acting President of the Asian Olympic Council, Raja Randhir Singh. Saudi attendees included Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, and the Director of the Saudi Arabian delegation, Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah. Athlete Dunia Abu Talib and equestrian competitor Ahmed Al-Sharbatly carried the Saudi Arabian flag as they led the Kingdom’s delegation of athletes, sportsmen and sportswomen during the parade. As per a report, Babar Azam and his men had planned to travel to Dubai for a pre-World Cup team bonding trip but it couldn't be materialised. The plan had to be cancelled as the Pakistan team is still waiting to get visas for their travel to India. Of the 9 teams that are participating in the tournament, alongside India, the Pakistan team is reportedly the only one to have not received their visa yet.
