Pakistan's Cricket World Cup Squad Announced, This Big Star Misses Out. Hasan Ali Makes A Comeback

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the squad for the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. While most of the top names are there, there were a couple of surprises. Fast bowler Naseem Shah who suffered an injury during the recently concluded Asia Cup is not part of Pakistan's Cricket World Cup squad. But veteran pacer Hasan Ali has made a comeback into the Cricket World Cup squad. Babar Azam will lead the Pakistan cricket team at the Cricket World Cup while Shadab Khan will be his deputy.

India's Predicted XI vs Australia, 1st ODI: Ravichandran Ashwin Or Washington Sundar? Who Will Get A Chance?

After successfully clinching the Asia Cup 2023 title with a dominating win over Sri Lanka, Team India is all set to face Australia in the three-match ODI series. The first ODI match will be played on Friday at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. For the first two matches, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya have been rested. In the absence of skipper Rohit, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul will be donning the captain's hat. Shreyas Iyer's dodgy match-fitness will be put to ultimate test while Suryakumar Yadav will be desperate to alter a dismal ODI record.

Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez Question Pakistan's Asia Cup Approach, Claims Report. Soon After One Of Them Resigns From PCB

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team did not live up to expectations in the recently-concluded Asian Cup 2023. It was a great chance for the 1992 Cricket World Cup champions to prepare for the 2023 edition, but the side were knocked out of the Super 4 stage.  Despite having played in Sri Lanka extensively, where most of the match of the Asia Cup were played, before the continental event, Pakistan could not qualify for the final. They lost to India too in a Super 4 match. The Pakistan Cricket Board conducted a review of the performance recently.

PCB Reviews Asia Cup 2023 Performance Ahead Of Cricket World Cup 2023 Squad Announcement

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday held a review meeting of their woeful Asia Cup show in the wake of their World Cup squad announcement. All teams must finalise their 15-player squads for the cricket showpiece before the September 28 deadline, with any replacements after this date requiring approval from the ICC. "The philosophy behind this review was to create an atmosphere of open discussion and develop consensus," PCB chairman of the management committee Zaka Ashraf said in a statement. "The idea is to have everyone on board and debate about performances, identifying the problems and their solutions.” The review meeting was also attended by head coach Mickey Arthur, captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan and former skippers Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.

Captains face range of challenges ahead of Cricket World Cup

Sometimes a captain of a cricket team gets a decision wrong. It happened to Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, in the Asia Cup Final last Sunday in Colombo. He won the toss and chose to bat under clear skies. Before play could start, rain arrived, causing a 40-minute delay.

Davis Cup: India Draw Pakistan Again, PTF Won't Agree To Shifting Matches To Neutral Venue

India have been drawn to play Pakistan in the World Group I Play-offs and the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Thursday made it clear that it won't agree to shift their home tie to a neutral venue this time. India had drawn Pakistan in 2019 also but due to "security concerns" the Asia/Oceania Group I tie was shifted to Kazakhstan, a neutral venue. As a mark of protest, Pakistan's top players Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan had opted not to play the tie in which rookies Mohammed Shoaib, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Yousaf Khalil competed for them.
