Oman To Host Hockey Olympic Qualifier In Place Of Pakistan: FIH

Oman will now host one of the men's hockey Olympic Qualifiers after the world body (FIH) withdrew the tournament from Pakistan due to infighting between the national federation and the country's Sports Board. The International Hockey Federation announced that tournament will be held in Muscat from January 15 to 21 next year. The other three FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers will be played in China (women's - January 15-21 2024) and Spain (women's and men's - January 13-21).

The Indian cricket team has left from India for their much-awaited Asian Games stint on Thursday. They will start their campaign on October 3. Sports Authority of India shared pictures of Team India leaving Mumbai Airport to fly to China. "Men's Cricket team is all set for #AsianGames2022! #TeamIndia have taken off from Mumbai airport, bound for Hangzhou, for their much-anticipated campaign at the #AsianGames2022. Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq is all set to retire from the ODI format after the conclusion of the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Afghanistan's 24-year-old pacer is in line to face Virat Kohli after he was called up for the World Cup earlier this month. Naveen who made his ODI debut in 2016, hasn't featured for Afghanistan in the ODI format since January 2021. Last year he was in contention to return in the format but said that he was taking a break from the format. Now just a week away from the action-packed tournament, Naveen announced his decision to retire from the 50-over format.

Squash At Asian Games 2023: Indian Men Lose To Pakistan But Still In Line To Make It To Last Four

The Indian men's squash team lost to Pakistan in their penultimate Pool A match on Wednesday but are firmly in contention to qualify for the semi-finals if they beat Nepal in the final game on Thursday. The top two teams from each pool qualify and despite the defeat at the hands of Pakistan, Saurav Ghosal and company are in sight of a podium finish. In the first match, Zaman Noor beat Abhay Singh 3-1. The score-line read 11-9 10-12 11-8 11-8 in Zaman's favour. The match lasted 51 minutes and at no point did Abhay looked like being in contention to win the tie.

Saudi Olympic Committee president attends 19th Asian Games esports competition

HANGZHOU, China: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee president, who is leading the Kingdom’s delegation to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, on Wednesday attended the Saudi team’s esports competition. The Saudi team reached the quarterfinals of the League of Legends game in the esports stadium, where they lost 0-2 to the Korean team. Committee Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi attended the Saudi handball team’s game against Iran as part of the handball competition group stage. The Saudi team missed the chance to qualify for the second round after a 23-23 draw with Iran, which qualified along with Japan from the group. A total of 193 Saudi athletes will compete in 19 sports at the Asian Games, which conclude Oct. 8.
