India's top-order batter Shubman Gill believes the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh shapes up to be an interesting and intriguing contest. The first Test between India and Bangladesh will be played in Chennai on September 19, followed by the second Test in Kanpur starting on September 27. Gill has been included in India's squad for the Chennai game, which sees the return of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli into the Test scheme of things, while left-arm pacer Yash Dayal has been given a maiden call-up.

Pakistan's white ball specialist Iftikhar Ahmed at times has "felt like a tailender" when the team management has asked him to bat as low as number 7 and 8 in limited over games for the national team in the recent past. In an interaction with the media in Faisalabad where players have assembled for the Champions Cup tournament, Iftikhar said he didn't consider himself a middle-order batter. “I am not a middle-order batter, I am a lower-order batter. I am not an all-rounder, I am a tailender. If you see, I bat at No.7 or 8. And if you look at the all-rounders and middle order batters around the world, you would see they bat at Nos 4 or 5. But I play at No.7 and 8 and I think of myself as a tailender," he said.

A 12-member Pakistan contingent on Monday left for Chennai to take part in the South Asian Athletics Federation Junior Championships after getting visas from the Indian High Commission. An official confirmed that the athletes and officials had left for Chennai after visas were approved on Saturday. “The contingent has left via the Wagah border from where they will go to Amritsar and fly to Chennai where the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship is being held,” the official said.

The Indian cricket team returns to action after a long break as a two-match Test series against Bangladesh begins on September 19. The India stars last played in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka which was followed by long break of more than a month. Ahead of the series against Bangladesh, the BCCI has organised a camp for the Indian cricket team between September 13-18 in Chennai. According to a report by Times of India, Mumbai's young spinner Himanshu Singh has been called up for the camp. As per the Sports Tak report, the ICC delegation is likely to come to Pakistan in the next few days (maximum 10 days) to inspect the preparations and other important aspects. After the ICC's visit, the cricket governing body is expected to announce the schedule and also the sale of the tickets for the tournament.
