Harmanpreet Kaur, Renuka Singh Rested For India Women's ODIs Against Ireland, Smriti Mandhana To Lead

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and pacer Renuka Singh Thakur have been rested for India women's three-match home ODI series against Ireland, the BCCI announced on Monday. Opener Smriti Mandhana will lead the side in the series, beginning on January 10 at Rajkot, in the absence of Harmanpreet. Harmanpreet had suffered a knee injury during the home series against the West Indies last month, forcing her to sit out of the last two T20Is before returning to play three ODIs. Before that, the 35-year-old had sustained a neck injury during the match against Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup in Dubai in October last year.

Day 3 of the second Test between South Africa and Pakistan in Cape Town had a heated encounter between Babar Azam and Wiaan Mulder. A follow-on was imposed on the visitors after they got bundled out for 194 on the third day as the Proteas scored a whopping total of 615 in their first innings. Coming out to bat again, Pakistan ended the day at 213/1 after their openers Shan Masood (102*) and Babar (81) stitched a record opening partnership of 205 runs.

West Indies Team Arrives For First Test Series In Pakistan In 18 Years

The West Indies cricket team arrived in Islamabad on Monday for their first Test series in Pakistan in 18 years. The West Indies last toured Pakistan for a Test series in 2006 though they have been to the country for two white-ball rubbers in between. The visitors will play a three-day tour game against Pakistan Shaheens from January 10 in Islamabad before the first Test in Multan from January 17. All-format opener Saim Ayub will be travelling to London from Cape Town to get expert opinion on his ankle injury as the Pakistan Cricket Board is racing against time to get him fit for next month's Champions Trophy. Saim suffered an ankle injury while fielding during the first day of the ongoing second Test against South Africa in Cape Town and has been ruled out of competitive cricket for six weeks. The PCB said on Sunday that the local doctor monitoring Saim's injury had spoken to a specialist in London to arrange a consultation for the batter with him.
