Olmo helps Barcelona grind out win at Las Palmas and keep La Liga league

BARCELONA, Spain: Dani Olmo scored after coming off the bench to help Barcelona win 2-0 at Las Palmas on Saturday and stay top of the Spanish league. Lamine Yamal linked up with Olmo to find a seam in the hosts’ defense in the 62nd minute. Olmo took Yamal’s threaded pass, shifted the ball to his left foot to open an angle around a defender, and fired the ball in off the underside of the bar. While Olmo went on at halftime, Ferran Torres only played the final minutes and drilled in a second goal from angle in stoppage time. Barcelona avenged a shock home loss to the Canary Islands club in November as it ensured it will spend another week atop the standings. The team coached by Hansi Flick is one point ahead of Atletico Madrid, which won 3-0 at Valencia earlier on Saturday.

Ittihad stroll past Hilal in top of the table showdown

JEDDAH: Al-Ittihad took a big step toward the Saudi Pro League (SPL) title on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Al-Hilal in the long-awaited top of the table clash. The victory in Jeddah puts the Tigers seven points clear of their Riyadh rivals with 13 games of the season remaining. The defeat means that Al-Hilal, who strolled to a record 19th championship in 2024, have won just once in their last five games and are struggling to keep pace with Ittihad who have tasted victory in 15 of their last 17 league games. Despite the convincing defeat that came in the end, Al-Hilal took the lead midway through the first half. João Cancelo whipped over a wicked ball from the right and there was Marcos Leonardo to poke it home at the near post for a real poacher’s goal.

Inglis Lesson: Josh's Maiden Ton Pulls Off Australia's Record Chase In Champions Trophy Match Against England

Josh Inglis played the innings of his life, smashing his maiden ODI century (120 not out) to overshadow Ben Duckett's masterclass 165, as world champions Australia pulled off a record chase to beat England by five wickets in their Champions Trophy Group B opener in Lahore on Saturday. The five-wicket win marked the highest-ever chase by any team at an ICC white-ball tournament, the previous best being Pakistan's 345 against Sri Lanka at the 2023 men's World Cup. Duckett's career-best knock from 143 balls that had 17 boundaries and three sixes had propelled England to 351/8 -- the highest total of the Champions Trophy, surpassing New Zealand's 347/4 against USA way back in 2004.

India "Have An Upper Hand": Syed Kirmani Ahead Of Pakistan Champions Trophy Clash

Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani said that Men in Blue have an upper hand over the Men in Green and highlighted the positives both teams have going on for them heading into the game. The game is a high-stakes battle for both teams, as while Pakistan will try to keep their title defence alive, India will aim to almost confirm its berth in the semis. The game is also being touted as an opportunity for India to avenge the loss of the 2017 Champions Trophy Final when Virat Kohli's men were deprived of putting their hands on the ICC trophy.

"Going To Be Hard For Pakistan Now": Ricky Ponting Ahead Of Clash With India In Champions Trophy 2025

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting believes Pakistan's chances of success in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 have taken a significant hit following their 60-run loss to New Zealand in the opening match. The injury to star opener Fakhar Zaman, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament, has further compounded Pakistan's woes. Ponting discussed Pakistan's plight with host Sanjana Ganesan on the most recent episode of The ICC Review and the former Australia captain thinks it is going to be tough for the Asian side to put the loss of Fakhar behind them and return to winning ways against India on Sunday.
