Hardik Pandya received plenty of criticism after Team India's early exit from the T20 World Cup last year. Many fans and experts felt that the all-rounder wasn't fully fit which prevented him from bowling in the opener against Pakistan. The 28-year-old has been suffering from a back injury for quite some time which saw him play as a batter for most part of 2021. He also played solely as a batter for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2021 but did bowl for India in two T20 World Cup matches, against Afghanistan and New Zealand. Speaking to cricket historian Boria Majumdar, Hardik revealed that he "wasn't supposed to bowl" and "was selected in the team as a batter".
Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke and renowned cricket expert and commentator Alan Wilkins indulged in a light-hearted prediction for the big-ticket semi-final match between India U19 and Australia U19 scheduled to be played on Wednesday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. Clarke termed the upcoming semis between the two sides as a "big game" and asked Wilkins which team he was actually rooting for. To the above question, Wilkins cheekily predicted that the match could very well end in a tie and result in a Super Over.
Australian pace bowler Josh Hazlewood said on Wednesday he would not be surprised if security fears prompt some players to opt out of the upcoming Pakistan tour, as he eyes a comeback to the national team after recovering from injury.
Acquainted with playing in Pakistan, English batter Alex Hales says the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) decision to pull out of the country's tour last year made "zero sense" to him. Hales, who is playing for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), did not agree with ECB'S move to withdraw weeks before the tour scheduled for October last year, citing security concerns. "That decision to cancel that tour made absolutely no sense," Hales, a white ball specialist, told Geo TV.
Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood has said that he would not be surprised if some of the players from his side don't want to tour Pakistan for security concerns. Australia is expected to tour Pakistan in March and it would be the first time since 1998 that Australia would tour Pakistan.
Cooper Connolly is backing Australia's new batting prodigy Teague Wyllie to help fire his team into the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup final 2022. A talented India team stands between Australia and Saturday's showpiece match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. However, Aussie captain Connolly believes his team has the ability to get there, particularly if his Western Australia teammate Wyllie can maintain his red-hot form as the three-week tournament reaches its conclusion.
