Not many people knew exactly what had transpired on the third ball of the 41st over at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore when Babar Azam celebrated his ton in fine style against Australia. Normally, when a player scores a hundred, the home crowd erupt in jubilation and sing songs of praise for the player. However, nothing of that sort was on display despite the home team captain jumping in the air and fist pumping to celebrate his 15th ton. Well, the catch was that Babar was still on 99 not out when he punched the air in delight after he completed running two runs. The hilarious incident was even acknowledged by the players on the field who were left in splits, something which even put a smile on Babar's face later.

Pakistan's Shadab Khan signs for Yorkshire as Gary Ballance takes a break

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has signed to play for Yorkshire in the Twenty20 Blast, the English county announced Friday. The 23-year-old leg-spinner will be available for the club's first five and last six fixtures of the domestic T20 competition. Shadab has represented Pakistan in all three international formats, including 64 Twenty20s where he has taken 73 wickets and boasts a batting strike-rate of 136.81. Subject to obtaining international clearance, he will now join Pakistan team-mate Haris Rauf at Yorkshire, with the fast bowler available for the first five matches of the Blast. "Shadab Khan is someone who can bat at the top, bat in the middle order and hits the ball a long way," said Darren Gough, Yorkshire's interim managing director of cricket. "He is also an unbelievable spinner," the former England fast bowler added.

Off-spinner Simon Harmer ended an absence of more than six years by taking four wickets and putting South Africa in charge on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Kingsmead on Friday. Bangladesh were 98 for four at the close in reply to South Africa's 367 all out. Harmer took four for 42 in 20 overs. Harmer, 32, had not played in a Test match since November 2015. He signed a Kolpak contract with English county Essex in 2017, making him ineligible to play for South Africa before the system came to an end in 2020.

India drawn to meet Norway in Davis Cup, away tie dates clash with Asian Games

Davis Cup team was on Thursday drawn to meet Norway in its next World Group I tie, an away contest which will clash with the Asian Games in September. The Davis Cup tie will be held either on September 16-17 or 17-18 while tennis events at the Asian Games are scheduled to be held from September 10-14. Even if the Indian players complete their Asian Games engagement by April 14, it will be practically difficult to reach Norway for the tie since the players need to acclimatise before they take to the courts.

Ramiz Raja set to table proposal for 4-nation tourney involving India, Pakistan in ICC meet

Ramiz Raja is all set to table a proposal for a four-nation tournament involving India at the upcoming ICC Board Meeting but the BCCI is unlikely to play ball. As per the current ICC rule, a member board can host a tri-nation tournament at the most as only the global body has the right to organize an event which involves more than three countries. But Ramiz's 'white-paper' proposes that ICC run the tournament annually with a projected revenue of USD 750 million for the parent body from media rights and other commercial activities.
