Speedster Umran Malik's rise has been pretty meteoric in Indian cricket. He got a chance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SunRisers Hyderabad in 2021 before he made his First-Class debut for Jammu and Kashmir. His fiery pace impressed all as he was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 season. He has repaid the faith by taking 10 wickets in seven matches. However, more than his number of wickets, it is Malik's express pace that has forced everyone to stand up and take note of the 22-year-old.
Hasan Ali has in been top form for his County side Lancashire in the ongoing Division One match against Gloucestershire. The Pakistani speedster took a magnificent six-for in the first innings to help his team bowl out Gloucestershire for 252. Lancashire then went on to post a massive 556 for seven declared to take a huge first innings lead. Hasan Ali, though, wasn't done yet. He returned to haunt Gloucestershire in the second innings to help his team reduce the opposition to 67 for three at stumps on Day 3. So far, Hasan Ali has taken one wicket in the second innings, but the delivery he produced to remove James Bracey has become the talk of the town.
Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is making headlines in his first County cricket season for Middlesex. In the first innings against Glamorgan, he castled Marnus Labuschagne to claim his first county wicket in style and then followed it up with another one on the very next ball. Though the bowler failed to clinch a hat-trick, he definitely made a statement in the first innings. He was not done though as he claimed another prized wicket in the second innings. The left-arm Pakistan fast bowler, who had claimed Labuschagne's wicket thrice in the three-match Test series against Australia at home last month, made sure he got the better of the batter in the second innings too.
Cheteshwar Pujara had announced his arrival in style in the ongoing County Championship as he scored a double century in the second innings of the match against Derbyshire. The right-handed batter has continued on with his form as he registered a century in the ongoing game against Worcestershire. Pujara is fighting a lone battle for Sussex as they look to inch closer to the opponent's total. Pujara brought up the three-figure mark on Day 3 of the ongoing Division 2 contest.
