Joe Root, former England cricket team captain, became just the 14th batter to score 10,000 Test runs when he reached the landmark during his match-winning innings of 115* against New Zealand at Lord's on Sunday. The 31-year-old Root is the only one among that select group of run-scorers to still be playing Test cricket. Indian cricket team legend Sunil Gavaskar was the first to enter the elite club. On March 7, 1987, Gavaskar scored his 10,000th Test run in a match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan cricket team is gearing up to face West Indies in a three-ODI series in Multan starting with the first match on Wednesday. Heat is going to play a major factor in the series as the temperature in the Pakistan city is expected to hover around 45 degree Celsius. The players are also aware of this. "It's a challenging scenario but now it has been decided and we are preparing for it. Definitely it is hot, but we are having a conditioning camp and acclimatising to the weather. We started our training camp earlier in the day from 2:30pm so that we could feel the heat and get ourselves ready for the matches," Babar Azam, Pakistan captain, said in a press conference recently.

Australia's big guns returned to the side as they announced the playing XI for the opening Twenty20 International (T20I) against Sri Lanka at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.
