Junail Zafar Khan, a club-level Pakistan-origin cricketer, has died after collapsing on the ground during a local match played in extreme heat at the Concordia College here. In his 40s, Khan was representing Old Concordians Cricket Club in a match against Prince Alfred Old Collegians last Saturday, news.com.au reported. After fielding for 40 overs and batting for seven, Khan collapsed around 4pm Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT).
New Zealand completed another dominant victory against Pakistan in the second T20I of the 5-match series on Tuesday, beating the tourists by 6 wickets in a rain-marred contest. Batting first, Pakistan put a decent total of 135/9 on the board, in a 15-over-per-side contest but New Zealand chased it down with ease. Much like the first T20I, Pakistan bowlers failed to step up to the challenge against the Kiwis. Even the travelling side's marquee pacer, Shaheen Afridi, was torn apart by the hosts' batters.
LOS ANGELES, United States: Aaron Gordon scored 38 points as the Denver Nuggets shrugged off the absence of Nikola Jokic to halt the Golden State Warriors’ seven-game winning streak with a 114-105 victory over their NBA Western Conference rivals on Monday. A dazzling display from Gordon inspired what was ultimately a comfortable win for Denver, who were missing regular starters Jokic and Jamal Murray from their line-up. The absentees were barely felt by Denver though, who startled the Warriors early at San Francisco’s Chase Center and led for most of the game. The Warriors threatened to stage a late rally after slashing the Nuggets’ fourth-quarter lead from 15 points to three points, but Denver pulled away in the closing stages to secure a deserved win. Gordon finished with 38 points, six rebounds and three assists while Michael Porter Jr. provided offensive support with 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. The Warriors were always chasing the game after failing to threaten from long range, making just eight of 33 three-point attempts.
Pakistan cricket has been in doldrums for a while despite the changes that have been made in virtually every department. Be it captaincy, coaching, selection committee or even administration, the Pakistan Cricket Board has produced multiple knee-jerk reactions to the team's results over the last couple of years. Yet, results haven't gone the team's way. Inzamam-ul-Haq, one of Pakistan's greatest cricketers in history, has fired a blunt warning to the PCB, saying if they don't find a solution to the problem soon, the cricketing graph of the nation would sink further.
In a candid conversation during a podcast, England cricketers Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali were asked if they would play for Pakistan in international cricket. While the host made his choice of international cricketing nation obvious, the England duo gave some intriguing responses despite admitting that they have been asked such questions in the past. Adil said that he would rather try to make it through the system in the country he was born than play for another country. For Moeen, it was playing international cricket that mattered more than the choice of the nation.
New Zealand vs Pakistan 2nd T20I Live Cricket Score Updates: After a comprehensive victory against Pakistan in the 1st T20I, New Zealand look to continue the same momentum as the two sides square off in the second match of the series in University Oval, Dunedin. Pakistan, without the likes of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, are looking to create a fresh identity in the shortest format. But, their efforts haven't instilled much confidence in fans or stakeholders at present. Rain in the morning delayed toss at the venue. There's, however, still time for a full 40-over contest to be held. (Live Scorecard)
The Bangladesh cricket team will tour Pakistan for a white-ball series in May, which will include three T20Is and as many ODIs. The series will be held after the conclusion of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League scheduled to take place from April 11 to May 18. Originally, the series was part of the Future Tours Program but had to be postponed due to the busy schedules of both teams. However, following recent discussions during the visit of Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman, Farouq Ahmed, to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, both boards have agreed to go ahead with the series in May.
