Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has lashed out at the national selectors for ignoring seasoned allrounder Shoaib Malik for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. Hafeez said he had advised Malik to take retirement after last year's World Cup as he knew they would no longer be part of the Pakistan team set-up. "I don't even know whether he will get a proper farewell now which he should, given his 22 years of international cricket.
Pakistan bowler Fatima Sana has been ruled out of the Women's Asia Cup scheduled to take place in Bangladesh from October 1 onwards due to an ankle injury. As per a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Fatima twisted her ankle while featuring in the Women's Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The PCB Medical panel after investigating the injury have advised her a four-week rest. The bowler, who featured for Barbados Royals in the CPL was also not part of the first phase of the preparation camp for the tournament held in Lahore from August 30 to September 2. Her replacement will be announced in due course.

Ahead of the first game, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav were spotted playing some classy shots during the net sessions. Both Kohli and Suryakumar were batting next to each other in the nets, showcasing their shots in what was the first practice session for the Indian team ahead of the first T20I against Australia. The squad marked the return of the ace pacer Shaheen Afridi, after he was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a knee injury. India batter Virat Kohli touched down in Mohali on Saturday ahead of India's first T20I of the three-match series against Australia that is slated to take place at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium on Tuesday.
