Two of the finest batters of this generation, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have often been compared to each other. While Kohli has been at the top of his game for a long time, Babar has shown in the early phases of his career, that he is destined to be considered among the greats. While both batters have done wonders for their team over the years, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has explained the area where Babar isn't as good as Kohli.
Stand-in skipper Shadab Khan gave an all-round performance to guide Pakistan to a consolation 66-run win in the third and final Twenty20 international in Sharjah on Monday, but Afghanistan took the series 2-1.
Pakistan stand-in skipper and all-rounder Shadab Khan believes plenty of positives will come from his side's series loss to Afghanistan and the consistent efforts of experienced absentees Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan will be further appreciated when the star duo return to the national setup and said that there is always a "sword hanging over them of strike rate". Afghanistan stunned Pakistan by claiming their second victory and securing the three-match T20I series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Babar and Rizwan were rested for the ongoing three-game series against Afghanistan in Sharjah as a host of players with less experience and fewer credentials were given a chance to shine in the absence of the ultra-reliable top-order pair.
It took a gritty batting performance from Rahmanullah Gurbaz to guide Afghanistan to a brilliant seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the second T20I encounter in Sharjah on Sunday. Gurbaz kept his calm to score 44 off 49 deliveries to ensure the victory for his side but his innings was not without exciting shots.
Afghanistan secured a historic series triumph over Pakistan, beating Shadab Khan & Co. in the first and the second T20I series to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. Having sealed the fate of the series with one match to spare, Afghanistan drew plaudits from the entire cricketing fraternity. Even Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar said that he was 'very happy' by Afghanistan's win and backed them to do well at the forthcoming ODI World Cup which is to be held in India.
The Pakistan cricket team became the first top-6 nation to ever lose an entire T20I series to Afghanistan, hence registering an unwanted record. After winning the first T20i comprehensively, Afghanistan continued their march in the second match, winning the series with one game to spare. Pakistan, who had decided to rest a number of senior players for the series, saw their decision backfire as multiple fringe players failed to make the opportunity count. One of the Pakistan players who left fans disappointed was wicket-keeper batter, Azam Khan.
Afghanistan overcame late nerves in the closing overs to beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the second Twenty20 international on Sunday and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series. Needing 30 off the last three overs, and 22 from the last two, Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi hit a six each off pace bowler Naseem Shah in the penultimate over to reduce the target to five runs. Zadran then hit the winning boundary off Zaman Khan's last over to chase down the 131-run target with one ball to spare.
