ARAB NEWS: The 2022 Arab Cup U-17 is set to kick off today in Algeria with two matches, marking the fourth edition of the competition.
Kuwait and Hong Kong will be facing each other in Match No. 4 of the Asia Cup qualifiers on Tuesday at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. Hong Kong played the opening game of the tournament against Singapore and registered an 8-run victory. On the other hand, Kuwait clinched the victory by 1 wicket against UAE, in their first clash. Earlier on Monday, both UAE and Singapore went against each other, where UAE won by 47 runs. It will be interesting to see whether Kuwait will be able to dominate Hong Kong on Tuesday or not.
When UAE last made a trip to Muscat for a cricket tour, back in February, it ended joyously.
Karthik Meiyappan inspired UAE to a victory over Singapore in Muscat that kept alive their chances of qualification for the Asia Cup.
CP Rizwan said UAE had let themselves down in their shock defeat to Kuwait in the Asia Cup Qualifier.
Shakib Al Hasan played down his team's chances at the Asia Cup and said his goal for the tournament is to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Bangladesh will travel to the UAE for the upcoming Asia Cup on the back of a poor run in the shortest format of the game and with Shakib given another chance at the captaincy after Mahmudullah's three-year reign finished earlier this year. Shakib's side is drawn in Group B against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka for the six-team tournament that commences on August 27 and the star all-rounder is keeping his expectations low for the showcase event.
UAE and Singapore will be squaring off against each other in Match 3 of the Asia Cup qualifiers on Monday at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. UAE started off their campaign with a loss against Kuwait on Sunday by 1 wicket. Singapore met a similar fate as they also lost their opening clash against Hong Kong by 8 runs on Saturday. It will be interesting to see which team will be registering their first win of the tournament.
