Former wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal has launched a scathing tirade and urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi to resign from his post if he can't improve the current status of the men's team. Pakistan's horror run in the international circuit continued after the Mohammad Rizwan-led side surrendered an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series against New Zealand. A shambolic display across the spectrum of the game saw Pakistan succumb to a thumping 84-run defeat. The series defeat comes after a flop show in the T20I series and an early end to the Champions Trophy title defence. Kamran didn't mince his words while sending a strong message to the PCB chairman in the wake of the recent performances.
New Zealand great Kane Williamson hailed Mohammad Siraj's outstanding bowling performance against his former franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru and said the right-armer bowled with real fire in his belly" and led Gujarat Titans' attack with aggression in securing the eight-wicket win at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Siraj delivered an exceptional spell of 3-19. The effect of his early burst, later fetching him the Player of the Match Award, was such that RCB were reduced to 42-4 before posting 169/8 in their 20 overs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Faheem Ashraf did not mince his words in the post-match press conference following a heavy defeat against New Zealand in the second ODI encounter. Pakistan were completely outplayed by the hosts as they slumped to a 84-run loss, handing New Zealand an unassailable 2-0 lead. Pakistan were reduced to 32/5 during their run chase and although Faheem slammed 73 off 80 deliveries, it was not enough to clinch the match for his side. After the match, Faheem urged the players to support each other and said that they cannot just concentrate on individual goals.
Pakistan spinner Sufiyan Muqeem established a world record on Tuesday, becoming the player with the highest individual score at number 12 position in an ODI match. Muqeem achieved this record during his side's second ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand at Hamilton. While chasing 293 against the Kiwis, Muqeem came to bat with his team at 174/9 and scored 13 in 10 balls, with a four and six. He also had a brief partnership with Naseem Shah, who smashed 51 in 44 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes.

LONDON: Erling Haaland promised “I’ll be back” after the Manchester City striker learned he will be sidelined for seven weeks with an ankle injury. Haaland limped off during the second half of City’s 2-1 win at Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. The Norway star had missed a penalty and scored his 30th goal of the season before being hurt in a challenge with Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook. City boss Pep Guardiola on Tuesday revealed Haaland would miss the majority of the remainder of the season, saying: “The doctors told me between five and seven weeks, so hopefully for the end of the season and the Club World Cup he will be ready.”
