"Have Seen Sehwag, Hayden; Why Not...?" Kumar Sangakkara Backs England Star To Open In Tests

England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler had a memorable IPL 2022 for Rajasthan Royals as he scored 863 runs, including four centuries and he was the main reason that the franchise was able to reach the finals. The batter continued his form in the recently-concluded ODI series against the Netherlands as he scored 162 not out in the first ODI. Former Sri Lanka skipper and Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara has now backed Buttler to open the innings in Tests.

Reigning Tour de France champion Pogacar given familiar support cast

The Slovenian was unsurprisingly on Monday named in the UAE Team Emirates line-up for the race, which gets underway in Copenhagen on Friday. Switzerland's Marc Hirschi was a notable omission, but Polish climber Rafal Majka, Mikkel Bjerg, Brandon McNulty and Vegard Stake Laengen all made the cut. New Zealander George Bennett and Spain's Marc Soler, both signed in the off-season, are in the team, as is Italian sprinter Matteo Trentin. "We've worked very hard all year as a team to prepare for this," said the 23-year-old Pogacar. "So far this year has been positive for the team and we hope to continue this momentum." Pogacar is a strong favourite for the Tour after another impressive season which has seen him win the one-day Strade Bianche and two stage races. Meanwhile, Trek-Segafredo named former world champion Mads Pedersen as their team leader on Monday. Kazakh Alexey Lutsenko, who finished seventh last year, will be the main man for Astana, who will also have four Italian riders on the start line in Denmark.

England vs New Zealand 3rd Test Day 5 Live Score Updates: Start Of Day 5 Delayed Due To Rain

Day 5 of the ongoing third Test between England and New Zealand has been delayed due to rain. Earlier, brilliant half-centuries from Ollie Pope and Joe Root put England well on their way to a 3-0 series whitewash over the visiting New Zealanders. At stumps on Day 4, Pope was unbeaten on 81 and Root 55 not out with England needing 113 more runs to win the third and final Test at Headingley and complete a series sweep. Going into Day 5, New Zealand will be praying for a miracle with the English firmly in control. England will be firm favourites to wrap up a 3-0 series success over Test world champions New Zealand after chasing down stiff targets of 277 and 299 in five-wicket wins at Lord's and Trent Bridge respectively.
