The rumours surrounding Virat Kohli's fitness has been doing the rounds since Sunday following his brilliant century against Australia in the fourth Test encounter in Ahmedabad. “Playing through sickness with this composure. Inspiring me always…,” Anushka Sharma wrote on her social media following Kohli's innings and fans were speculating about what Kohli might be suffering from. Rohit addressed the rumours in his press conference, and he had a straight answer to the questions posed by reporters in the aftermath of the game which ended in a draw. "Don't believe what you see on social media. Don't think Virat was sick, just that he was coughing a bit," Rohit said at post-match press conference.
India booked their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the second straight occasion after drawing the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad, and with generous help from Kane Williamson and New Zealand.
It has been a brilliant outing for Virat Kohli in the fourth Test match between India and Australia in Ahmedabad as the star batsman scored his first Test century in almost three years. Kohli dealt with the Australia bowlers with ease and his 182-run knock was able to hand India a decent lead in the first innings. The ex-India skipper was in a mood for banter on Monday and he was caught on the stump mic taking a slight jibe at on-field umpire Nitin Menon. Following a decision that went against India with respect to Aussie batsman Travis Head, Kohli decided to taunt Menon about it and said that if the decision was in any way related to him, the umpire would have given the decision against him.
India clinched the four-match series against Australia 2-1 after the final Test ended in a draw on Monday in Ahmedabad following defiant half-centuries from Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne.
Playing the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia within one week of the IPL's conclusion is going to be a huge challenge, India head coach Rahul Dravid said on Monday. Virat Kohli slammed his first Test century in more than three years, after Shubman Gill's sparkling 128, as India responded strongly to Australia's stiff first innings total of 480 to draw the fourth and final Test and clinch the Border-Gavaskar series 2-1 here. Just before the post-lunch session on the final day, news trickled in that Kane Williamson's magnificent hundred sealed New Zealand's thrilling two-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Christchurch, paving the way for India's march to their second successive WTC final.
It was a rare sight on Monday as Cheteshwar Pujara was introduced into the bowling attack by India skipper Rohit Sharma. It was the final overs on Day 5 of the fourth Test match in Ahmedabad and the match was clearly headed towards a draw. Pujara bowled a tidy over and ended up conceding just one run which was lauded by the commentators. Pujara had a clean bowling action and former Indian cricket team skipper Sunil Gavaskar remarked on commentary that his bowling style even resembled the Australia great Shane Warne. Ravichandran Ashwin also had a brilliant reaction to his bowling.
England's Harry Brook on Monday overcame India's Ravindra Jadeja and Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies to win the ICC player of the month award for February with Australian Ashleigh Gardner claiming the top prize in the women's section. Brook bagged his second player of the month award after his exploits in New Zealand Test series, becoming only the second man to win it on two separate occasions along with Babar Azam of Pakistan.
