Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is likely to miss rest of IPL 2025, said bowling coach James Hopes ahead of their clash against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Ferguson walked off the field due to a left leg issue after bowling just two balls in his side's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, which they eventually lost by eight wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. “Ferguson's out indefinitely, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he's done a real decent injury to himself,” said Hopes in the pre-match press conference.
West Indies cricket icon Chris Gayle backed star Indian batting pair Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to continue in Tests during the tour to England, saying the longer they are around, the better for the cricketing world. Gayle was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the second season of the Pro Cricket League, in which he will play for Ghaziabad Bhawani Tigers. Speaking to ANI about the celebrated pair of batters, who have caught flak for their poor Test returns, Gayle said, "Of course they are still going, these guys still have a lot of cricket in them. Don't push them out. The cricketing world needs those guys as much as possible. It is great to have them around still. They still bring a lot of value to international cricket. There is always going to be someone after, but the longer they are around, the better it is for the cricketing world."
Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk's disappointing IPL 2025 season continued as he got out first ball in Delhi Capitals' (DC) 206-run chase against Mumbai Indians (MI). With Faf du Plessis absent and a big score to chase, a lot of onus was on Fraser-McGurk to put his poor form behind and contribute big. However, he got out first ball to Deepak Chahar, sending a catch straight to Will Jacks at short cover. As a result, Chahar was heavily criticised by the broadcasting commentary panel.
Former New Zealand player Danny Morrison has criticised the Chennai Super Kings team following its poor performance in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The five-time IPL champions are going through a tough phase in the ongoing season. CSK kicked off their campaign with a four-wicket win but have struggled in the season since then. The side has lost four matches on the trot. To add insult to injury, CSK's most recent game which was against Kolkata Knight Riders saw a pathetic batting show from the MS Dhoni-led side. They could score just 103 for 9 in 20 overs, posting their lowest-ever total in Chennai.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are having a tough time playing at their home ground - M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the IPL 2025. RCB started off their campaign with a seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders and have won three games out five, so far. However, after claiming historic wins at the iconic Eden Gardens against KKR, Chepauk against Chennai Super Kings, and Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians, RCB ended up losing two games at their home.
Team India confirmed their playoff berth in the Billie Jean King Cup 2025, after bagging second place at the Billie Jean King Cup Asia-Oceania Group 1. The hosts progressed to the next round after registering a 2-1 win against Korea Republic in their final game of the tournament at the Mahalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex on Saturday in Pune. This is only the second time that India have qualified for the playoffs of the Billie Jean King Cup, previously doing so in 2020. Along with the hosts, it was New Zealand who secured top spot at the tournament organized by MSLTA in association with ITF, AITA, and PMDTA.
Munster’s Champions Cup hopes were ended by a rampant Bordeaux-Begles side in an engrossing quarter-final on Saturday but Ian Costello’s side went down fighting to the end.
