3400Km Travel For Nothing! India Enter Cricket World Cup 2023 With No Warm-Up Games

India's superstar cricketers endured a 3,400km (2,170 miles) cross-country journey to play a Cricket World Cup warm-up only for the match to be abandoned without a ball being bowled on Tuesday. India were to face the Netherlands in Thiruvananthapuram, on the southern tip of India, but they were left kicking their heels due to torrential rain. On Saturday, their scheduled game against defending champions England up in the north-eastern city of Guwahati was also washed out. In total, the wet weather has so far forced three warm-up matches to be abandoned while three others have been rain-affected, leaving teams and players frustrated ahead of the tournament's start on Thursday.

"Never Ending Love Story": Shikhar Dhawan Hilariously Trolls Pakistan Cricket Team's Fielding

Veteran Indian cricket team batter Shikhar Dhawan took to social media to hilariously troll the Pakistan cricket team after a misfield during their Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match against Australia on Tuesday. Over the years, Pakistan have been part of some hilarious instances of poor fielding efforts and Dhawan shared a video on X (formerly called Twitter) that showed two fielders going for the same ball but they decided to wait for the other one to collect the ball and it ended up going right through the middle.

The Indian cricket team started their Asian Games 2023 campaign on a high as they defeated Nepal to reach the semifinals of the competition. India were able to post a formidable total of 202/4 but the match was not one-sided at all as Nepal ended up giving them a scare before losing by 23 runs. The two batting performances that stood out in the Indian innings were Yashasvi Jaiswal who slammed a brilliant century and Rinku Singh who provided the perfect end with a 15-ball-37. Former India opener Virender Sehwag took to social media to point out that India need more explosive batters to become a 'dangerous side'.

Asian Games 2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal Celebrates Century On Two Occasions In Comedy Of Errors - Video Is Viral

Scoring a century for your country at a competition like the Asian Games is no small feat. That is why it is completely understandable how emotional young Indian cricket team batter Yashasvi Jaiswal got after his ton against Nepal during the quarter-final match on Tuesday. However, in a weird turn of events, Jaiswal ended up celebrating his milestone on two different occasions after a late decision from the umpire. On the first occasion, Jaiswal slammed Sompal Kami straight down the ground while batting on 95 and he started celebrating as he thought that ball was gone the full distance. However, the third umpire intervened and the replays showed that the ball had landed just ahead of the boundary line.

Asian Games: Blazing Yashasvi Jaiswal's Ton Help India Beat Nepal, Reach Semifinals

Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a blazing hundred but a gritty Nepal stretched Indian bowling unit to its limit before losing in the quarterfinal of the men's cricket event by 23 runs at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Tuesday. Jaiswal, Indian cricket's new pin-up boy, earned the distinction of being the youngest T20I centurion from the country en route his 49-ball-100 that took India to a healthy 202 for 4 in 20 overs, foundation of their semifinal entry. But the men from the Himalayan nation made a match of it but lack of experience became their undoing as their innings ended on 179 for 9, ensuring a last four spot for Ruturaj Gaikwad's men. (Asian Games Medals Tally | Asian Games Full Schedule)
