The Indian contingent added two more gold medals on Day 5 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. The women's four team first won a historic gold in the lawn bowls event, and this was India's first-ever medal in the sport. Sometime later, the men's table tennis team also returned with a gold medal. The mixed badminton team won a silver medal after losing the final against Singapore.
The Indian contingent are displaying a good show at the ongoing Commonwealth Games and they have won 9 medals so far, including three gold. The first gold for India came through Mirabai Chanu on Saturday, and the rest of the two were also won by weightlifters -- Jeremy Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuli. Apart from three gold, the contingent has won three silver and three bronze as well. Judoka Shushila Devi also won a silver medal in the women's 48kg category on Monday.
This wasn't Shushila's first CWG silver. In 2014 at Glasgow, Shushila had bagged the silver medal in the same category. That's why she desired gold so much.
India won a second medal in judo in the form of a bronze when Varanasi's Vijay Kumar Yadav (men's 60kg) defeated Petros Christodoulides of Cyprus by 'Ippon' in just 58 seconds at the Commonwealth Games. In a tight contest, Shushila, who had four stitches on her right toes, fought hard before losing the final via 'Waza-Ari' in 4.25 minutes. It was the Indian's second silver medal at the showpiece. She had finished runners-up at the 2014 Glasgow Games as well.

Indian judoka Shushila Devi narrowly lost out to South Africa's Michaela Whitebooi in women's 48kg final, to win the silver medal. She was a favourite for the yellow metal after a great showing in the earlier rounds but a late move by the South African stunned her.
Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 4 Live Updates: The Indian lawn Bowls team made history on Monday as it defeated New Zealand in the women's four lawn bowls semi-final to assure themselves of at least a silver medal. Also, Shushila Devi Likmabam defeated Mauritius' Priscilla Morand in women's 48 kg semi-final to also be assured of at least a silver medal. Boxer Amit Panghal has entered the quarter-finals in the flyweight category. In weightlifting, Ajay Singh finished fourth in men's 81kg. After claiming two gold medals on Sunday, India would hope to increase their haul on Day 4 of the CWG 2022. India have so far won six medals (three gold, two silver and one bronze). Two weightlifters shone for India on Sunday. Jeremy Lalrinnunga won a yellow metal for India in the 67kg category before Achinta Sheuli starred in the 73kg category. The duo's success followed after Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu had bagged a gold medal in the 49 kg category, which was India's first top podium finish in the ongoing Games.
