The Indian women's pair of Lovely Choubey and Nayanmoni Saikia were knocked out of the the Commonwealth Games on Friday after they went down in the quarterfinal clash. The Indian duo lost to England's Sophie Tolchard and Amy Pharoah 18-14. Choubey and Saikia led on two occasions, first 5-2 after four rounds and 8-6 after end nine.

Akula defeated Karen Lyne from Malaysia 12-10, 12-10, 4-11, 11-8, 11-8. Tennison, prevailed 11-8, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-3 against England's Charlotte Bardsley. The winners of the Round of 32 will feature in the women's singles round of 16 at Commonwealth Games 2022 on August 5.
Day 7 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games saw India add two medals -- a gold and silver -- to their kitty. With six gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals, India are currently seventh in medals tally, having won a total of 20 medals. India's Sudhir bagged a gold in the men's heavyweight final of para powerlifting to end Day 7 on a positive note. Murali Sreeshankar had also clinched a historic silver for India with a best jump of 8.08m in the men's long jump.
