Christian Franz (16th minute), Nikas Berendts (29th, 45th), Peer Hinrichs (43rd, 48th), and Sperling Florian (49th) found the back of the net for the Germans, who produced a dominating display. India's goals were scored by Amandeep Lakra (35th), Uttam Singh (58th) and Rohit (60th). The Indians started on the front foot, threatening Joshua Onyekwue Nnaji's goal on a couple of occasions in the opening minutes. But Germany had the first shot on target as Ben Hasbach's snapshot was deflected out by India goalkeeper Mohith HS.

India Outplay South Korea To Remain Unbeaten In Women's Asian Champions Trophy, Face Same Team In Semifinals
Already through to the semifinals, India thrashed South Korea 5-0 with Salima Tete scoring a brace in their last league match to maintain their unbeaten run and top the table in the women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Ranchi on Thursday. Salima scored in the sixth and 36th minutes while Navneet Kaur struck from a penalty corner -- also in the 36th minute. Vandana Katariya (49th) and Neha (60th) were the other goal scorers for India. With 15 points from an all-win league campaign, India topped the six-team table and face South Korea again in the semifinals on Saturday. South Korea ended at fourth spot with seven points.

An in-form India eked out a narrow 2-1 win over Japan to register their fourth straight win and storm into the semifinals of the women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament on Tuesday. After two goalless quarters, Navneet Kaur (31st minute) and Sangita Kumari (47th) scored for India, while Japan's lone goal came from the stick of Kana Urata (37th). It was a match between two undefeated sides in the tournament and it lived up to the billing. India had earlier defeated Thailand 7-1 in their opener before getting the better of Malaysia and China 5-0 and 2-1 respectively. The Japanese too were undefeated coming into the match, having registered wins over Malaysia 3-0, South Korea 4-0 and Thailand 4-0 respectively.
