Asian Games 2023: Roshibina Devi Assures India Of Wushu Bronze

India was assured of another medal in the ongoing Asian Games on Monday, as Naorem Roshibina Devi qualified for the semi-finals in the Women's 60 kg Wushu (Sanda), thus assuring herself a bronze. She outplayed her opening opponent in the quarterfinal, Aiman Karshyga of Kazakhstan, convincingly. Roshibina Devi happens to be a bronze medallist from the last edition in Jakarta in the same category. Notably, she was a gold medalist in the same category at the 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu-Pokhara.

The Indian women's handball team began their Asian Games campaign on a losing note, losing to Japan 13-41 in their group B clash in Hangzhou on Monday. Menika, who netted four goals, was the sole bright spot for India giving them a fourth minute lead. Top seeded Indian Charanjot Singh and Karman Tikka bowed out of the Asian Games after suffering hard-fought defeats in the FC Online-4 game of the E-Sports event on Sunday. Charanjot Singh suffered a 0:2 defeat to China's Liu Jiacheng in his opening game but bounced back strongly with three consecutive wins. He won 2-0 against Aristorenas Jorrel of Phillipines, 2-1 against Alrowaihi RKM of Bahrain and 2-0 against Yessentayev Olzhas of Kazakhstan in the Losers Bracket Round 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
