"Nothing Worthwhile Is Easy": Usman Khawaja's Heartfelt Post Amid 'Shoe' Controversy

Australia opener Usman Khawaja came into limelight after he showed solidarity with the people caught in Israel-Hamas conflict. Khawaja was spotted wearing shoes with a message- “All lives are equal”, written on it during the training session ahead of first Test against Pakistan. However, he was forbidden by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to wear them on the match day. Later, some fans during the match between Pakistan and Australia, were seen holding the same slogans which were written on Khawaja's shoes.

Mahmoud Abbas needs to step down, says Nasser al Qudwa, Yasser Arafat’s nephew

Nasser al Qudwa, a former foreign minister and a nephew of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, said in an interview with FRANCE 24 that it “definitely doesn’t look as if Israel is aiming at Hamas” but is actually waging a “real war of savagery” on Palestinians civilians.

Biden cautions Netanyahu, Orban blocks Ukraine aid, COP28 conclusions, AI books flood Amazon

The US Senate is putting off its Christmas recess for a shot on voting on military aid for Israel and for Ukraine. Ukraine's president has been globetrotting this week, with stops that included Washington, where Volodymyr Zelensky lobbied senators as well as the pro-Trump speaker of the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson is holding out for domestic border control reform. To keep Kyiv's financial lifeline alive, Zelensky travelled all the way to Buenos Aires for last Sunday's inauguration of Argentina's new populist president, Javier Milei, but the main reason was to lobby Viktor Orban ahead of a crucial EU summit.

Algerian footballer on trial in France over Gaza post

NICE: Algerian international footballer Youcef Atal goes on trial in France Monday accused of inciting hatred after posting a video in which a Palestinian preacher purportedly threatens Israel with a “black day.”Atal, who plays for Ligue 1 side Nice, shared the video on his Instagram account, which has 3.2 million followers, shortly after the attack by Hamas militants on Israel on October 7 in which 1,139 people were killed. In an extract of the footage seen by AFP, the preacher, Mahmoud Al Hasanat, at first talked about the plight of children in Gaza.Prosecutors said they also identified another extract in which he called on God to “send the Jews a black day,” and “steady the hands” of Gaza inhabitants if they should “throw stones.”The 27-year old defender, who quickly deleted the post and issued an apology, was suspended by his club while prosecutors probed the incident for suspected “justification of terrorism.”But they dropped that line of investigation after watching the video and questioning the player, instead charging him with “incitement to religious hatred.”Two associations, the International League against Racism and anti-Semitism (Licra) and the Jewish Observatory of France, have brought civil actions against the player. If found guilty, Atal could be sentenced to up to one year in prison and fined 45,000 euros ($49,000).He has been under judicial supervision with a ban on traveling abroad except to play professional football. His club quickly suspended him “until further notice” after the post, while the professional football league banned him for seven matches. Some of Atal’s Algerian team mates argued for leniency, saying he had apologized and not actually watched the video until the end before posting it.The

Banner Repeating Usman Khawaja's Banned Shoe Message Removed In Perth Stadium During First Test vs Pakistan

A banner bearing the same messages as written on Usman Khawaja's shoes regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict was taken down by secutiry during the Australia vs Pakistan first Test in Perth Stadium. Meanwhile, some spectators were evicted from the stadium due to "antisocial behaviour". It is worth noting that Australian batter Khawaja was set to wear slogans like "all lives are equal" and "freedom is a human right" during the game against Pakistan but the International Cricket Council (ICC) forbid him ahead of the game.
