Yuki Bhambri Makes Quarters In Auckland; N Sriram Balaji Exits From Adelaide International

In a mixed bag for India on the ATP Tour on Wednesday, Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti advanced to quarterfinals of the ASB Classic in Auckland but N Sriram Balaji exited the Adelaide International with pre-quarterfinal defeat alongside Miguel Reyes-Varela. "Jack Of Not Being Picked': On R Ashwin's Retirement, Ex-Australia Star Drops Bombshell

Former Australian cricketer Brad Haddin suggested that legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin's retirement in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy stemmed from frustration over not being selected in the playing eleven. The veteran all-rounder sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity by announcing his retirement from international cricket following the draw in the third Test at Brisbane. Notably, Ashwin had not played in that match. He featured in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval, scoring 29 runs across both innings and taking one wicket. Before this series, he was part of India's shocking home Test series loss to New Zealand, their first in 12 years. Ashwin had been one of the key architects of India's dominant Test run at home.

"Make The Team First": On Misfiring Shubman Gill's Captaincy Ambitions, Ex-India Star's Blunt Response

It wasn't too long ago when batter Shubman Gill had been appointed India's vice-captain in two formats. When Gautam Gambhir had walked in as India head coach, Gill had been named vice-captain in both ODIs and T20Is. However, just over a month before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Gill finds himself out of favour for any leadership role, with a report stating that Jasprit Bumrah will be India's vice-captain for the tournament should he regain his fitness. Former cricketer-turned-pundit Sanjay Manjrekar approves of the decision.

Mohammed Shami Sends Massive Champions Trophy Message To India Selectors - Video

Pacer Mohammed Shami seems to be gearing up for a spot in India's squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, in recent months, the fast bowler has been in regular action in domestic cricket, showing that he may yet be ready for the Champions Trophy. Shami shared a video on social media of him training, making his intentions clear.

Michael Clarke Hails Jasprit Bumrah As 'Best Pacer Ever' Across All Three Formats

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has hailed Jasprit Bumrah as the greatest fast bowler across all formats after the Indian spearhead delivered a sensational Player of the Series performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah was a standout performer in the series, claiming 32 wickets at an average of 13.06 and his devastating bolwing left Australia reeling in multiple occasions in the series. The India pacer's 32 wickets in the series brought him tantalisingly close to breaking Sydney Barnes' 1911-12 record of 34 wickets in a series by a touring pace bowler in Australia. However, his injury in the SCG Test prevented him from equalling or surpassing the historic feat.

"Trying So Hard...": On Virat Kohli's Struggles, Australia Great's 'Perfect' Verdict

ICC Hall of Famer Ricky Ponting shared his thoughts on where Virat Kohli is at in his Test career following a further downturn in his form in India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss to Australia. Once the linchpin of India's batting, Kohli suffered a tough time Down Under ending with just 190 runs at an average under 24, despite scoring an unbeaten century in the first Test in Perth. Looking for potential solutions for the 36-year-old, cricketing great Ricky Ponting agreed he had much to give, despite struggles against spin at home and technical issues outside off-stump in Australia. Speaking to host Sanjana Ganesan on The ICC Review, Ponting compared Kohli's struggles to his own towards the end of his career, where the former Australian captain averaged 39.48 in his last five years as a Test batter, down from a career average of 51.85.

After Sunil Gavaskar's Brutal 'Not Ideal' Verdict During India-Australia Series, ICC Rates Sydney Pitch As...

Four out of five pitches used in the recent Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia have been rated 'very good' by the ICC, which found the track for the fifth and final game in Sydney to be 'satisfactory, Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday. The marquee five-match series ended 3-1 in favour of the hosts, who regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy after a decade and also qualified for the World Test Championship final in June against South Africa.
