Eyeing Next Year's T20 World Cup, Pakistan Launches Special Preparatory Programme

Pakistan has started its preparations for next year's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka by launching a player's improvement, scouting and grooming programme called 'strike force', which will begin in Lahore from January 13. Initially the programme, headed by former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, was to focus on scouting for young talent with the potential to develop into power-hitters to suit the demands of the shortest format of the game. "Initially that was the idea, but, due to logistical challenges we decided to launch the strike force programme by holding a 90-day specialised camp for 25 players who have either already played for Pakistan, done well in domestic or under-19 level or in T20 leagues in the country," Abdullah Khurrum, who heads the PCB's domestic cricket department, said.

Former India Pacer Varun Aaron Retires From 'Representative Cricket'

Injury-prone India pacer Varun Aaron on Friday announced retirement from "representative cricket" after his home state Jharkhand's campaign ended in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 35-year-old, who made his international debut in 2011, played nine ODIs and as many Tests for India. He had retired from red-ball cricket last year. "For the past 20 years, I have lived, breathed, and thrived on the rush of bowling fast. ICC chairman Jay Shah To Be Felicitated By BCCI At Its Special General Meeting

Newly-elected International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah will be felicitated by the BCCI's state units on the sidelines of the Special General Meeting, scheduled in Mumbai on Sunday. Shah, a former BCCI secretary, became the youngest ICC chairman after he was elected unopposed in August last year and took over the prestigious post on December 1. He replaced Greg Barclay who decided not to seek a third term. Shah was the BCCI secretary since October 2019 and chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021.
