Former India wicketkeeper Surinder Khanna has given an interesting take on Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, over his remarks on World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev. Few days back, Yograj made a chilling revelation from his playing days, saying that he once wanted to kill Kapil after the then captain dropped him from the North Zone team. Yograj, who played 1 Test and 6 ODIs for India, recalled that he had carried a pistol to Kapil's house but changed his mind, showing mercy on latter's mother.
Delhi wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat has landed himself in hot water after skipping his side's preparation camp for the upcoming round of Ranji Trophy match to attend his Indian Premier League (IPL) side Gujarat Titans (GT)'s training camp in Surat. Rawat was bought by GT for Rs 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, having been released by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Rawat was mentioned among the players who had joined the nets session in GT's official statement.
Former India batter Aakash Chopra has questioned the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee over the absence of all-rounder Shivam Dube from the squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. Dube, who was part of the T20 World Cup-winning side last year, has fallen out of favour under the regime of head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. Dube travelled to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka for the T20I series after the World Cup triumph but was ignored for the subsequent home series against Bangladesh, as well as the away tour of South Africa.
There has already been a review of the Indian cricket team's performance in Australia by the BCCI, while it is understood that Gambhir and senior players aren't on the same page on the issue of team culture. It is learnt that the head coach was not pleased with how some star players gave specific demands about hotels and practice timings during the tour of Australia. But, on the other side, senior players have felt a lack of communication from his end. Amid this ongoing tussle is the view of the national selection committee, which does not want the head coach to have too much of a say in selection matters.
