Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan said Indian team can handle the pressure situations effectively and that trait gives Rohit Sharma's side an edge in the much-awaited Champions Trophy match against traditional rivals Pakistan at Dubai on Sunday. While India began with a six-wicket thumping of Bangladesh in their tournament opener, Pakistan lost their first game by 60 runs to New Zealand and are currently placed last in the four-team Group A points table. India Women's Hockey Team Lose Again, Outclassed 0-4 By Germany In FIH Pro League

"Trying Too Hard...": India Great Namedrops Rohit Sharma In Big Advice For Virat Kohli

Former India captain and coach Anil Kumble feels Virat Kohli is putting a "lot more pressure on himself" in his effort to get out of the lean patch, and advised the baittng icon to remain mentally relaxed. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Kohli has hit just one fifty while scoring 137 runs in six ODI innings. "I think he's trying a bit too hard. You can see that in the way he is going about his innings. He just needs to not worry about it," Kumble said on 'ESPNcricinfo'. "Rohit comes in there, has the freedom because there is plenty of batting and all of them are in great form. Similarly for Virat, he just needs to come in and not worry about anything else," he added.

Sports Ministry Want To Ensure Fair Selection In India, Set To Take Massive Step To Ensure It

In a bid to resolve Indian sports' perennial problem of selection furores, the sports ministry will push for trials that are video-graphed in the presence of an observer across disciplines. The move, ministry hopes, will ensure that no athlete feels aggrieved or hard done during the selection process. "All selection trials will be conducted under video surveillance to ensure transparency and fairness. You will see the turbulence in sports come down with these efforts," a ministry source said. The turbulence being referred to is the tug of war that often plagues selection processes in the country. Athletes from major sports like shooting and wrestling knocked on the doors of courts before the Olympics last year after complaining of bias and opaque policies.

PARIS: Manchester United were drawn Friday to play Real Sociedad of Spain in the last 16 of this season’s Europa League, while Rangers will take on Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, and Tottenham Hotspur face AZ Alkmaar. Ruben Amorim’s United are struggling in the Premier League this season but finished third in the league phase of the Europa League. They will travel to San Sebastian for the first leg on March 6 before the return a week later against a Real Sociedad side who reached this stage after beating Midtjylland of Denmark in the play-off round. The clubs have met several times in European competition in recent years, with United winning a Europa League knockout phase play-off tie in 2021 before both sides each won away from home in the group stage in 2022/23. They also faced off in the Champions League group stage in 2013.
