A back injury with sideline Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav from the first half of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, according to a report. Mayank is currently at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he is undergoing rehab after getting injured following his India debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh last October. LSG had retained Mayank for Rs 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction in November, following his breakout season last year.
Rohit Sharma is known to forget his passport, phones, other belongings from time to time, but on Sunday, the India captain forgot the trophy in the media room after attending the post-match press conference. Rohit addressed the media as India defeated New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, indulging in some intriguing topics, including his retirement. But, as the press conference was over, Rohit forgot to take the trophy back with him. A member of the support staff had to pick the trophy and remind Rohit of the prized asset he left behind.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir landed in Delhi while skipper Rohit Sharma touched down in Mumbai as members of the Champions Trophy-winning Indian team dispersed from Dubai, taking various routes to their destinations on Monday. Gambhir landed in New Delhi around 7 pm and was welcomed by the officials and escorted out to his destination. The 2025 Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai is Gambhir's first major title as the head coach of the Indian team, after taking charge in July last year. Rohit reached Mumbai around 8 pm on Monday with his wife, who was there in Dubai supporting him during the final.
India skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday dismissed the speculations about his career after winning the ICC Champions Trophy, saying that he is not quitting the ODI format anytime soon. Since the tour of Australia, speculations were rife about Rohit's future in the team as well as his position as captain but a match-winning 76 in the final against New Zealand has given him a new lease of life. "I am not going to retire from this (ODI) format. Going forward please don't spread rumours," Rohit said at the post-match press conference after India beat New Zealand by four wickets to clinch the trophy.
The Sports Ministry on Tuesday lifted its suspension on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), paving the way for the organisation of domestic tournaments and selection of national teams for international tournaments. The ministry had suspended the WFI on December 24, 2023 for the hasty announcement of the Under-15 (U-15) and Under-20 (U-20) National Championships.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir landed in Delhi on Tuesday while captain Rohit Sharma returned home in Mumbai as well. Unlike the T20 World Cup 2024, where the entire Indian team had returned home in a charter flight, players and the members of the support staff are arriving in different cities from Dubai at different timings. The Indian had an open bus parade and felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede stadium last year, after the team was crowned T20 World Cup winners, but such an act isn't scheduled to take place this time, least in the coming days.
